Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga

We have a yoga class designed to fit whatever stage of motherhood you are in! 

Prenatal yoga, postpartum yoga, mommy and me yoga....we even offer private lessons for mommas and their partners!

Yoga can also be great for everyone, even if you are not pregnant or your children have grown up!  Join us for one of our all levels classes to learn gentle ways to improve health and create a calm and less stressful environment. 

We also offer weekly classes in Jacksonville, Yulee and Fernandina Beach.

Courtney is a Certified Yoga Alliance Instructor and has designed this yoga class to be the perfect combination to relax the mind, stretch tight muscles, and invigorate the spirit.

Each pose done in this class will be clearly demonstrated and explained....no more wondering if you are "doing it right"
Safety and correct form is our number one priority, which makes this a great class for beginners!

If you have been doing yoga for years, there is a great chance you will learn something new too...and at the very least, you will enjoy the class!

MamaBird Yoga

Gentle Postpartum Yoga for New Moms and their Babies

A 6 week course designed by Yoga Alliance certified instructor and doula Courtney Hanson to bring back energy and vitality to new moms while also offering relaxation and calming of the mind during this time of transition and new beginnings. 

Mamabird yoga is designed to:

- teach you poses and exercises to help strengthen and stretch overworked muscles

- help you practice breathing exercises and meditation techniques to relax your mind and help you rest

- help you build back a strong core and better posture to help a hunched back and shoulders caused by hours spent nursing or holding a newborn

- Help you build a strong mom community (all mamabirds!) and friends that are going through the exact same challenges and celebrations you are going through!

-Help guide you to live in the present and be mindful as a new parent.

About

This course is open to a limited number of moms and their babies ranging from a couple weeks postpartum up to 6 months. The small group and six week time frame allows for new moms to bond and talk about the triumphs and struggles of motherhood. We will breathe, we will move, we will tell stories, we will laugh, we will smile, and we may even cry.

This course is open to a limited number of moms and their babies ranging from a couple weeks postpartum up to 6 months. Attendees

Mommy and Me yoga is for new moms and their babies who have been cleared for exercise by their care provider postpartum (typically 6 weeks) and for mothers of non-mobile babies. We ask that babies that have begun crawling (usually around 6 months) join us in a class designed for mobile babies or toddlers.

Newborns

Mommy and me yoga is designed to be an open and inclusive space for mothers to bring their babies and not have any fears or regrets about tending to the natural and expected needs of their child! Stop at any point to rock, hold, breastfeed/bottle feed or change a diaper.

If you prefer, there are private rooms for nursing as well as changing tables, but it is always up to you!

If you would like, the instructor sometimes will offer to hold your baby if there is a pose you want to participate in, but only with your permission of course! Babies are welcome to lay on yoga mat, or there will be bobby loungers and snuggles me loungers for mommy’s to borrow. Feel free to bring your own as well.

Class Drops

The class package is purchased a whole series and we do not offer adjustments on a class by class basis. Because of the nature of the class and the strong bonds that are formed in the short time frame among mothers, we keep the class series as a whole. We will consider offering individual classes in the future.

What if the instructor has to miss a class?

Courtney is a birth doula and there is a very small chance that she would have to cancel a class. Students will be notified by a group email as well as a post on the mom group’s facebook page. Any class that the instructor would need to cancel would be made up on the soonest available date on the backend of the class. We understand that not everyone would be able to attend a makeup class, and we apologize that we can’t guarantee this won’t happen, however, it is very unlikely!

Pricing

The 6 week course if $200 for each mommy pair. If you have a mom friend, both can sign up for discounted price of $180 each. If after the first class, you feel like it isn’t a good fit, we will refund the entire class package price.
